2 Timothy 3:16-17 teaches that “all Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.”
The Bible is our source of divine instruction. It is the means through which God reveals Himself and His will to mankind today. As the written Word of God, the Bible is infallible truth (cf. John 17:17). This truth is not just for education’s sake, but relates to “all things that pertain to life and godliness” (2 Pet. 1:3).
The inspired truth of God teaches us how the world was created (Gen. 1), how makind came into existence (Gen. 1:27), what our purpose should be (Ecc. 12:13), what our great problem is (Rom. 3:23; 6:23a), what God’s solution is (cf. Rom. 5:8-10), and what we must do to be saved.
The inspired truth of God has the ability to take us from where we are to where we need to be. By hearing God’s Word with the right heart, we can gain faith in the Lord (Rom. 10:17), and live fruitful lives (Matt. 13:23). By hearing God’s Word and responding to it rightly, we can escape the wages of sin, which is eternal condemnation in hell, and gain hope of eternal life in heaven (Rom. 6:23).
We invite all to come hear lessons from the inspired Word of God this week.
