Philippians 4:6-7: In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.
A question for each of us to ask when we are faced with temptations, trials, or distresses is, “Did I think to pray?” As the hymn this question is based on expresses, “O how praying rests the weary! Prayer will change the night to day; So when life seems dark and dreary, Don’t forget to pray.”
As the hymn What A Friend We Have in Jesus says, “O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear, All because we do not carry Everything to God in prayer.”
It is a wonderful privilege to know that we can approach our Almighty God at anytime and from anywhere.
God not only allows us to ask for His help, but He wants us to ask for His help. Notice 1 Peter 5:7: casting all your anxiety upon Him, because He careth for you.
May we not take this privilege for granted, but “think to pray” continually day in and day out.
