We are a group of Christ’s followers meeting in Olney, Illinois. We do not belong to any denomination. We are simply Christians, with Christ as our head (Colossians 1:18). We have no headquarters but heaven, and no book that serves as our “creed” except the Bible. As the inspired Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16-17), the Bible is looked to as our standard of authority in all matters of salvation.
We assemble together for the purpose of glorifying God and building up one another (1 Thessalonians 5:11). As we come together, we strive to worship as the church of the New Testament did.
We teach one another and worship God by singing “psalms and hymns and spiritual songs” (Ephesians 5:19), making melody in our hearts as we do so. We pray to God the Father (Acts 2:42). We study and teach God’s written Word (Acts 17:11; 1 Peter 4:11), which is the Bible (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
On the first day of the week, we also partake of the Lord’s Supper, as saints in the New Testament did (Acts 20:7), and lay by in store (1 Corinthians 16:1-2).
Visitors are welcome to assemble with us during our meeting times. We would be happy to study with you and/or answer questions you may have. If you would like to submit a question online, please click here.
We are privileged to have elders (shepherds/overseers) leading us and deacons serving us, according to the New Testament pattern (1 Timothy 3:1-13).
